A concern for the greater good over oneself; moral excellence; courage in the face of adversity...I agree that in modern times "hero" has become a token word, bandied about in regards to anyone and everyone from the 9/11 firemen (who were not really more "heroic" by definition than any fireman or police officer who consistently puts themselves in the face of overwhelming danger in the interest of another person, persons, or simply the greater good, and calls it a "job;" that is, they were heroic before 9/11 and they are heroic after) to the man who threw himself on top of another man to protect him from an oncoming subway train.

But! The words and acts of Ben Franklin - not singularly, of course - were integral to the founding and nurturing of our country; with limited resources and under great threat. He was terribly, terribly flawed - but most great, true heroes are. (Its a Greek thing.)

PS: Martha is no Ben.

C---You have used a pet peeve of mine. I doubt very much that BF is really a "hero" of yours. What has he donethat you find heroic? I believe what you really mean is that he is one of your "idols" just like Martha. The word "hero" has been so overused/misused that it has lost any true meaning. Is BF or Martha really in the same category with someone who gives up his life to save a friend or the 9/11 firemen or a Medal of Honor winner?

The clean air initiative makes an excellent point. Many people spend countless hours and money on creating a beautiful home to enjoy and entertain in. However, the fragrance is a powerful accessory and should not be forgotten. Think about it. Haven't you ever smelled a scent and either been taken back to a pleasant memory or a memory you would rather forget? Scents evoke strong memories, moods and set an ambiance. So what is your home saying? You may remember to scent your body and bath, but don't leave your home out. Essential oils can be mixed to easily create the right personality and statement for your home. You can control the combination and the strength.

I have purchased some really good fondue pots via eBay. You can find some very cheap ones, and the quality is often quite high. Just make sure to check out the sellers reputation first, and you should be fine.

Great idea in using it as the centerpiece on the buffet, will have to give that a try.
